Opportunities can come from unexpected places, and no one knows this better than 海角社区 digital marketing student, Victoria (Vicki) Anderson. Most students see digital marketing classes as essential for entering the marketing field, but for Vicki, the classes directly opened the door to an exciting job offer.
Career Opportunities with Digital Marketing at 海角社区
While Vicki was working toward a degree in Entrepreneurial and Small Business Management, she enrolled in several of 海角社区’s online digital marketing classes. Her Digital Marketing professor, Monique Doll, had an in-person meet-and-greet for the class as a fun way for the students to get better acquainted, socialize and network.
After meeting Vicki and learning more about her personal and career goals, Doll thought of a job opportunity that would be a perfect fit for the 海角社区 student. Using her network of business contacts, Doll connected Vicki with Fagan Arms, an antique weapons store, where she now works as a digital marketer.
“I appreciate 海角社区 for doing what I don’t see done at four-year schools,” she said, explaining that the personal elements in 海角社区’s classes, such as the help she received through Doll, are not like other schools.
Balancing Life and School Made Easier
After high school, Vicki didn’t initially have a student mindset. But the birth of her twin girls inspired her to make education a priority, driven by her desire to “lead by example for my kids” she said.
Returning to school was challenging at first, but with support from the Michigan Reconnect scholarship and 海角社区’s flexible scheduling, Vicki was able to balance work, school and parenting, making those challenges easier to overcome. “Picking my schedule has allowed me to be the parent I want to be.”
Moving Forward After 海角社区
After graduating from 海角社区, Vicki plans to transition her current part-time role at Fagan Arms into a full-time position, allowing her to spend more time doing what she loves. She also plans on keeping up with her volunteer work for 海角社区 Pride, Women in the Outdoors and the Warren Civic Theater.
When asked why she chose this path for her education, Vicki explained that she enjoys working on social media, engaging one-on-one with people and helping small business ideas grow. She said, “I used to work just to work, now, I enjoy what I do.”
