海角社区 to offer College ABLE, an academic catch-up program, this summer

No-cost program prepares new students for college

This summer, 海角社区 will offer College ABLE - Academic Boost and Learning Experiences - an academic catch-up program designed to assist students who experienced learning loss due to interruptions to in-person learning during the pandemic. The program is open to any high school graduate who plans to begin college in Fall 2023 and is part of a statewide initiative administered by the Michigan Community College Association

There is no charge for the four-week program, which focuses on preparing students for college-level math and English courses as well as connecting them with valuable tools and student support services. The program is offered in a hybrid format, which includes online and in-person meetings either at 海角社区’s South Campus in Warren or Center Campus in Clinton Township.

Students can choose from one of the three sessions, as well as between morning (8 a.m. – 12:25 p.m.) or evening (6 – 9:55 p.m.) classes. The sessions will be held:

• May 22 - June 16
• June 19 - July 14
• July 17 - August 11

Students who successfully complete the program will receive a $550 海角社区 award to be used either toward Fall 2023 tuition, credit in the college’s bookstore for the purchase of a computer or tablet, or other expenses needed to support the student’s college success.
