海角社区 and University of Michigan announce new transfer agreement for dental hygiene master鈥檚 degree
Three-year accelerated online option begins in Fall 2025
海角社区 and the University of Michigan have signed a new articulation agreement that offers an accelerated online Master of Science in Dental Hygiene (MSDH) program. The Accelerated Online AS-MS in Dental Hygiene pathway provides a three-year accelerated option for transfer students who have completed or are completing an associate degree in Dental Hygiene and are interested in advancing their education.
“This agreement provides 海角社区 dental hygiene graduates with a seamless pathway to advance their education and expand career opportunities within the evolving field of dental hygiene,” said Wendi Sparks, associate dean, Dental Sciences, 海角社区. “These transfer opportunities ensure our graduates are well prepared to contribute to the future of dental hygiene while strengthening the talent pipeline for local health care and industry growth. At 海角社区, student success is at the heart of everything we do, and agreements like this reinforce our commitment to advancing dental hygiene education and career development.”
The online pathway is designed for part-time study and begins in the fall semester. To enroll, students must meet the following requirements:
- An associate degree from 海角社区 with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
- Graduation from a Commission on Dental Accreditation-accredited dental hygiene program.
- Current local anesthesia and nitrous oxide licenses.
- A current dental hygiene license to practice in the United States.
For those who apply to the AS-MS in Dental Hygiene program, 60 dental hygiene credits and 24 general education credits will transfer from 海角社区, totaling 84 credits. Students will need to complete 54 credits at UM-Ann Arbor.
In addition to transferring to Michigan upon completion of their studies at 海角社区, students may concurrently take courses and access advising and other services at both institutions.
"By partnering with 海角社区, we are able to provide a smooth transition for dental hygiene graduates to join our Accelerated Online AS-MS in Dental Hygiene program,” said Stefanie VanDuine, director, Degree Completion in Dental Hygiene, University of Michigan School of Dentistry. “This agreement enables 海角社区 graduates to advance their education and expand career opportunities in education, public health, leadership and research. Our fully online, part-time format offers flexibility for students who need to balance studies with other commitments. We look forward to welcoming and supporting 海角社区 graduates in their growth."
This is 海角社区’s first master track ental hygiene completion program with the University of Michigan.
