Postsecondary Opportunities for High School Students

海角社区 provides a number of ways for high school students to participate in postsecondary opportunities through Dual Enrollment and the Early College of 海角社区.

  1. Dual Enrollment

    Dual Enrollment, allows high school students in grades 9-12 the opportunity to discover the college experience on one of 海角社区's campuses or online.

    1. Students may qualify for one of the following sponsorships:

      1. High School Sponsored (Dual Enrollment)

        This option allows district-approved public high school students to earn college credit, as well as potentially earn high school credit, for designated coursework. The school authorizes 海角社区 to bill the school district for charges (including tuition, fees and if approved, books) incurred by the student until maximum funding is reached. Billing is limited to a maximum dollar amount; students must pay any costs above the limit. Courses approved to be taken at 海角社区 must be listed on the which must be submitted by the high school each semester the student is sponsored. View the for further information (effective July 2012).

      2. State Sponsored (Dual Enrollment)

        This option allows district-approved non-public high school students to earn college credit, as well as potentially earn high school credit, for designated coursework. The school authorizes 海角社区 to bill the State of Michigan for charges (including tuition, fees and books) incurred by the student until maximum funding is reached. Billing is limited to a maximum dollar amount; students must pay any costs above the limit. Courses approved to be taken at 海角社区 must be listed on the which must be submitted by the high school each semester that the student is sponsored.

      3. Self-Sponsored

        This option is open to all students and provides the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school, but the student is responsible for all costs including tuition, fees, and books.

    2. The following steps must be completed to enroll as a Dual Enrollment student:



      1. If being sponsored, the high school must submit a completed to the Office of Admissions & Outreach. A new  must be submitted by the high school each semester that the student  is sponsored.

      2. Before registering for the first semester, the applicant must complete their admission steps. These include, completing New Student Orientation attending a Starting at 海角社区 Session with an academic advisor; and completing Placement. Dual Enrollment students are not required to complete course planning.

  2. Early College of 海角社区

    The Early College of 海角社区 prepares high school students for the next level of their education by offering courses that will allow them to be a step ahead in college. This program provides students with a jumpstart to their future through a three-year career-focused program. Eligible students participate in an integrated sequence of high school and college courses during grades 11–13 with no out-of-pocket cost for books, fees, or tuition. Advantages of the Early College of 海角社区 program include:

    Early Entrance – 11th grade students enter a college program while still in high school and are able to earn a high school diploma and attend a 13th year of school after graduation to earn an associate degree at no cost to themselves for tuition, fees or books.

    Early Exit – The Early College of 海角社区 program is completed in three years through grades 11–13 and is facilitated by high school and college instructors who will move the student ahead of a traditional schedule.

    Early Success – Upon successful completion of the Early College of 海角社区 program, students are poised for immediate success. They can earn up to the 60 college credits required for an associate degree or technical certificate. Credits can be transferred to a four-year university or the student can begin work right away, putting them well ahead of their peers.
